Dr. Sy Hudgins is a Georgia licensed clinical psychologist with specialized training and certification in forensic psychology, credentialed National Register Health Psychologist, and early entry applicant for an American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP) forensic specialty.
She has assisted in or conducted over 1,000 psychological evaluations, and she has over 15 years of clinical experience in forensic settings to include a day treatment substance abuse facility, juvenile residential treatment program, inpatient psychiatric hospital, county jail, and prison. She previously served as the Clinical Director of Hays State Prison.
Her in-person private practice services are provided in Kennesaw, Georgia. Some telepsychology is available. She also is available for in-jail, prison, or other facility off-site evaluations. She accepts contracts at negotiated rates, and a limited number of pro bono cases. Georgia is a PSYPACT state, and Dr. Hudgins is an approved PSYPACT provider. Born in Georgia, Dr. Sy Hudgins attended Wesleyan College in Macon with a Pierce Leadership Award. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Neuroscience Concentration. She later attended the University of Denver, where she was a Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault Clinical Fellow, and earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology with Forensic Psychology Emphasis. She further earned her PhD in Clinical Psychology with Forensic Psychology Concentration from APA Accredited Fielding Graduate University. Her dissertation developed the Criminal Justice System Legitimacy Scale, and earned her the Dr. Suzanne and Judge Harold Baer Scholarship. Her APA Accredited internship at South Arkansas Regional Health Center included a forensic (jail competency and criminal responsibility evaluation) rotation.
