Business Info
Capital B is a first-of-its-kind, Black-women-led local and national nonprofit news organization for Black Americans that launched January 31, 2022. We're on a mission to build more informed Black communities through transparent and trustworthy journalism. We're combatting misinformation and offering journalism that will reach Black people who have been ignored, underrepresented, or represented poorly in mainstream news, while exposing the systems that perpetuate racial inequality and injustice in America.
Our national newsroom reaches Black people across the country with investigative, enterprise, and accountability reporting covering the biggest issues of concern for Black Americans: criminal justice, education, the environment, housing and jobs, health and safety. Our national newsroom is the hub for a planned network of local newsrooms. Local news is one of our best tools for effecting change and promoting democracy. Local journalists, in our first newsroom in Atlanta, are delivering need-to-know information to help Black communities lead more informed lives – as they seek affordable housing, get health screenings, and vote – and contextualize local, state and federal policy and elections. We're engaging in continuous and ongoing community listening in the metro Atlanta area to ensure that we're covering issues that are important and most relevant to Black residents.
Across our business team, national newsroom, and Atlanta newsroom, we’ve built a staff of 26, 100% of whom are Black.
